Undergraduate student / Protein evolution
I was born and brought up in Pune, a city in India. Since my childhood, I have been curious and intrigued by the way nature works. Hence, I have had a natural inclination towards science. I was first introduced to Genetics in school and have ever since been hooked to it. I got admitted into the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, in 2018, for my integrated bachelors and masters degree in biotechnology. I’ve done various projects on biosensors, biochemistry, bioinformatics, and genomics since.
I am interested in the applications of genetics and bioinformatics. DNA, the code of life, the very reason of our being, fascinates me a lot. My previous internship, in the summer of 2020, on CRISPR/Cas systems, only increased my interest in this field. This summer (2021), I shall be working with Philippe Despres on the evolutionary analysis of FCY1, a widely conserved anti-fungal target.
