Biography

I was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wondered about the why behind things in nature; as a kid, I would interrogate my parents about everything happening around me, and I’d pretend to run little experiments, mixing whatever I could find into plastic cups just to see what happened. My real interest in biology took shape in high school, when I first learned about the central dogma of molecular biology. Something clicked, and it introduced me to the world of biotechnology. That’s what led me to pursue a B.S. in Biotechnology Engineering, which I’m currently studying, and where I’ve had the chance to work on several hands-on projects. One of them is Zymetec, a bioestimulant designed to enhance heat and drought stress resistance in corn, which I presented at the iGEM Grand Jamboree in 2024. I’ve also co-founded Talaria, a bio-herbicide developed as a sustainable substitute for traditional chemical herbicides. And even though my background is rooted in agrotech, I’ve developed a growing interest in data science, in finding patterns that can predict outcomes and then be proven in the lab.
